SOS Village

Amongst the fig and olive trees below the busy town of Bethlehem, 100 orphan children have found a home at the Children’s SOS village. There are twelve houses (all named after fairy tales) in which nine children live with one mother.

There are twelve houses (all named after fairy tales) in which nine children live with one mother.

Although some of the children have been orphaned due to conflict, many have been neglected due to poverty or have been the result of a ‘dishonourable’ relationship. Often the babies are found under a tree.

The biggest difficulty I faced while working on the mural was turning down the numerous delicious dinners that were offered to me by the hospitable children and mothers whilst I tried to work.
